According to the official Wechat account of the "Southwest Railway", the Houjiapo tunnel on the Chongqing-Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Hunan high-speed railway was successfully completed on September 15, after 26 months of construction, CTOnews.com reported.

CTOnews.com learned that the Chongqing-Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Hunan high-speed railway connects Chongqing's Yuzhong district and Qianjiang district with a total length of 269.506 kilometers and a designed speed of 350km per hour. Among them, Houjiapo Tunnel is located in Hanwei Street, Pengshui County, Chongqing City, with a total length of 3675 meters and a maximum buried depth of 694 meters.

The Chongqing-Qianjiang section of the Yuxiang high-speed railway is an important part of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network in China's "medium-and long-term railway network", according to the railway department. After the completion of the project, the travel time from Qianjiang to the main urban area in Chongqing will be shortened from the current 4 hours to less than 1 hour, greatly improving the travel conditions of residents along the route.
