CTOnews.com, September 18, according to the three Gorges Group, on September 18, Unit 13 of Baihetan Hydropower Station successfully passed 72 hours of trial operation and was officially put into commercial operation.

This is the 11th million kilowatt hydrogenerator set that Baihetan Hydropower Station has put into operation, and it is also the 105th hydrogenerator set completed and put into operation by the three Gorges Group on the mainstream of the Yangtze River.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. it is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the world. A total of 16 hydroelectric generating units with the largest unit capacity of one million kilowatts in the world and independently developed in China have been installed, with a total installed capacity of 1600 million kilowatts.

Unit 13 is the fourth million kilowatt unit officially put into operation on the right bank of Baihetan Hydropower Station after Unit 14, 15 and 16. Installation began in September 2020, and all installation and waterless commissioning were completed on August 30, 2021. It was officially put into production on September 18, 2022.

Up to now, the 11 million kilowatt units that have been put into operation of Baihetan Hydropower Station have stable operation and excellent indicators, and the cumulative production of clean electricity has exceeded 40 billion kilowatt hours.

CTOnews.com learned that the three Gorges Group said that when the Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully completed and put into operation, it will become the second largest hydropower station in the world after the three Gorges Power Station, with an average annual generating capacity of 62.443 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the electricity needs of about 75 million people a year, and can replace about 19.68 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 52 million tons.

In addition, after the Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully put into operation, the three Gorges Group will complete and put into operation 110 hydropower units in the mainstream of the Yangtze River, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts. It also forms the world's largest clean energy corridor with six hydropower stations in Wudong Germany, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, three Gorges and Gezhouba.
