Mercedes-Benz L3 conditional self-driving R & D test car is based on Mercedes-Benz S-Class, equipped with lidar, millimeter wave radar and other sensors that can accurately identify targets, as well as a special measurement system for R & D and testing. it can monitor the operation of all sensors and controllers, so that R & D engineers can constantly optimize the system according to the characteristics of road traffic in China.

CTOnews.com has reported that Mercedes-Benz obtained the world's first international certification of L3 conditional autopilot system in Germany at the end of 2021 by virtue of its DRIVE PILOT pilotage system, and began to provide Drive Pilot as an optional function in German S-Class and EQS new cars on May 17 this year. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz is also the first car factory in the world to make an official commitment to the ownership of L3 self-driving rights and responsibilities.

According to reports, the Mercedes-Benz autopilot system can enable L3 conditional autopilot at a speed of up to 60 km / h on German highways with suitable width during rush hour or traffic jams.

In July this year, Tencent announced that it had signed a memorandum of cooperation with Daimler Greater China Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group.

The two sides will conduct strategic cooperation in the field of high-level self-driving, using cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence technology to speed up the simulation, testing and application of Mercedes-Benz autopilot technology.

Tencent said the partnership would support Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia in developing self-driving car technology in China. To this end, the partners will establish a joint autopilot laboratory to jointly speed up the research and development of Mercedes-Benz autopilot technology in China in the autopilot tool chain, verification services and other related areas.

According to reports, Tencent will provide Mercedes-Benz with integrated, high-performance and stable cloud service support through IT architecture, tools and platform. At the same time, Tencent will provide its accumulation in the field of vehicle networking security to support Mercedes-Benz's self-driving research and development in China.

So far, Tencent has reached cooperation with more than 40 car companies in the field of smart travel, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, FAW, Changan, Dongfeng, Guangzhou Automobile and Great Wall.
