Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen AMD for the clue delivery to challenge the future! CTOnews.com Sept. 17, according to Yonhap news agency, Samsung's "eldest princess" Li Fuzhen recently pledged her stake in Samsung Electronics with a loan of 100 billion won (500 million yuan), which is believed to be used to pay estate duty. South Korean public opinion speculates that Li Fuzhen needs to pay estate tax of nearly 1.3 billion yuan.

According to news released by the Korea Institute of Financial Supervision on September 14, Li Fuzhen mortgaged 3.253 million Samsung Electronics shares on August 19 and obtained the loan from the Korea Investment Securities Corporation at an interest rate of 4.5%. In addition, in October 2021, Li Fuzhen mortgaged 2.532 million Samsung Electronics shares, borrowed 100 billion won from Hyundai Automotive Securities, and cashed out 1.50943 million Samsung SDS shares in bulk trading in March this year.

CTOnews.com learned that Lee Fu-jin, 52, is the eldest daughter of the late Samsung President Lee Kun-hee and the president of Silla Hotel. With stock assets of more than 28 billion yuan, she is now the richest woman in South Korea. She married Ren Youjai, an ordinary Samsung employee, in 1999, which caused a sensation in South Korean society, but the marriage fell apart 15 years later.

Lee Kun-hee, the former chairman of Samsung Group, died of illness in Seoul in 2020. Lee Kun-hee's estate includes stocks, real estate, fine arts and cash, with a total value of about 26 trillion won (141.6 billion yuan). Among them, the stock market value of Samsung subsidiaries is equivalent to 19 trillion won (about 94.9 billion yuan). In 2021, Lee Kun-hee's family declared an estate tax of more than 12 trillion won (about 65.3 billion yuan) and applied for payment over five years. Looking at the stock tax alone, Lee Kun-hee's widow Hong Luoxi 3.1 trillion won, eldest son Lee Jae-yong 2.9 trillion won, eldest daughter Lee Fuzhen 2.6 trillion won (about 13 billion yuan), second daughter Li Xuxian 2.4 trillion won.

According to the Interface News, South Korea has one of the highest estate tax rates in the world, which is based on 50%, and can even reach 60% in some enterprises, which is different from the general way of deducting estate tax from the total amount of estate tax. South Korea's inheritance tax requires an additional levy on the heirs.
