Automakers Stellantis and France's Renault will partially stop production at some Spanish plants in the coming days and weeks due to persistent shortages of automotive chips, Reuters reported.

A representative of the CCOO union said that two Renault plants in the Castilla and Leon regions of Spain would temporarily suspend production, one of which was completely closed on Saturday and the other cancelled shifts this week and next week.

At Stellantis's plant in Vigo, northwest Spain, the company has cancelled night shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. "they stopped production for 15 days in February. Supply shortages could mean more suspensions at any time," a union representative at Stellantis told Reuters.
