The president of the AMD Adaptive and embedded Computing Group confirmed at the AI hardware Summit that they have run the next generation Ryzen CPU in the lab and are equipped with Xilinx's AI acceleration engine.

This also confirms that AMD Phoenix Point CPU has been officially released, but there is still a long way to go before the new products are available, and they still need to go through a rigorous verification process in the laboratory.

If nothing happens, AMD is expected to showcase its Phoenix Point CPU for mobile platforms on CES 2023 and will adopt a new naming style recently announced by the company. In other words, Phoenix Point APU will arrive as a family of AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile processors.

According to previous intelligence, the AMD Phoenix Point APU series will use both Zen 4 and RDNA 3 kernels, and the APU will also support LPDDR5 and PCIe 5 protocols and provide a product lineup from 35W to 45W.

AMD also pointed out that notebook products may also bring memory technologies other than LPDDR5 and DDR5.

CTOnews.com learned that the AMD Ryzen 7000 series will include two mobile platform models: Dragon Range for high-performance laptops and Phoenix for lightweight designs, while the latter is expected to adopt the iGPU and Zen 4 CPU core of the RDNA3 architecture, supporting PCIe 7000 and LPDDR5.

According to the exposure specification, the Ryzen 7000 series APU seems to carry 8 cores and 16 threads, and may have a higher number of cores, which should be a unique design of Dragon Range chips. In addition, Phoenix APU will use more RDNA 3 CU, which can provide the same performance as 60W RTX 3060 Mobile.

Of course, Phoenix Point APU will also be the first AMD product equipped with AIE or AI engine, which can accelerate AI tasks, etc.
