CTOnews.com September 16 news, in yesterday's 2022 World Design Capital Conference, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. chief scientist, C919 large passenger aircraft series chief designer Wu Guanghui revealed that CR929 has now determined the overall technical scheme of the aircraft, selected the fuselage, tail structure segment suppliers, formally transferred to preliminary design.

Wu Guanghui said that CR929 medium-and long-range wide-body airliner composite material ratio 51%, can cover 95% of the route operation demand, typical segment economy is better than competitive models by more than 10%. This aircraft type signed a government agreement in 2016, and a joint venture company was established in 2017, named CR929. At present, the overall technical scheme of the aircraft has been determined, the suppliers of fuselage and tail structure sections have been selected, and the preliminary design has been formally transferred.

CTOnews.com learned that CR929 is a long-range wide-body aircraft jointly developed by China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. and Russia United Aviation Manufacturing Group. CR is the English initials of the two countries. The basic range is 12000 kilometers and the standard three-cabin 280 seats. On September 29, 2017, Sino-Russian International Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd.(CRAIC) held an official launch ceremony for the naming of wide-body passenger aircraft projects at COMAC. On November 6,2018, at the 12th China International Aerospace Expo, CR929 long-range wide-body aircraft prototype was unveiled.

According to Wu Guanghui, COMAC currently has three product lineages, namely regional jet ARJ2I (seat class: 78-90, range: 2225-3700km), large airliner C919 (seat class: 156-168, range: 4075- 555km), and Sino-Russian long-range wide-body airliner CR929 (seat class: 280, range: 12000km).

Up to now, ARJ21 aircraft have delivered 75 aircraft accumulatively, ordered 616 aircraft accumulatively, connected 110 cities, opened 263 routes, operated safely for more than 165,000 hours and transported more than 5.3 million passengers.

C919 large airliner is a medium and short range commercial trunk jet aircraft developed by China itself and with independent intellectual property rights. It successfully made its first flight on May 5,2017, obtained the first type inspection approval letter on November 27,2020, completed the certification test flight on August 1,2022. At present, it has obtained 28 customers and accumulated 815 orders. We will strive to deliver the first aircraft in 2022. On August 1,2022, COMAC announced that the domestic large aircraft had completed the evidence test flight, marking that the C919 evidence collection work officially entered the closing stage and began to charge for evidence collection with all its strength.
