Vice Minister of Public Security Liu Zhao said at the opening ceremony that by the end of August, the number of new energy vehicles in China had reached 10.99 million, an increase of 65 percent over the same period last year. From January to August this year, the number of new energy vehicles newly registered reached 3.22 million, double that of the same period last year. More than 8200 test plates were issued in 28 cities.

CTOnews.com learned that by the end of June 2022, the number of new energy vehicles in the country had reached 10.01 million, accounting for 3.23% of the total, an increase of 27.80% compared with the end of 2021. Among them, there are 8.104 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 80.93% of the total number of new energy vehicles.

According to data from the Federation of passengers, retail sales in the passenger car market totaled 12.95 million vehicles from January to August in 2022, an increase of 0.1 percent and 13000 vehicles over the same period last year, of which an increase of 1.102 million vehicles from June to August contributed greatly. From January to August, the domestic retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles were 3.262 million, an increase of 119.7% over the same period last year.

According to the data of the China Automobile Association, from January to August, automobile production and sales completed 1696.7 million vehicles and 16.86 million vehicles respectively, an increase of 4.8% and 1.7% respectively over the same period last year, the first double increase in production and sales since the second quarter. From January to August, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.97 million and 3.86 million respectively, an increase of 1.2 times and 1.1 times respectively over the same period last year.
