The foundation will be part of the non-profit Linux Foundation and will promote and maintain an open source project ecosystem to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) tools through PyTorch, a machine learning (ML) software framework originally created and supported by Meta.

AMD said that as a founding member, AMD, together with other companies in the industry, gives priority to promoting the continued growth of PyTorch's active community. Supported by innovative technologies such as the AMD ROCm open software platform, AMD Instinct Accelerator, Adaptive SoC, and CPU, AMD will help the PyTorch Foundation by popularizing state-of-the-art tools, libraries, and other components and making these ML innovations accessible to all.
