Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com Sept. 16, Samsung Electronics began to commercialize DDR5 DRAM last year, which is the first time in the industry to apply DRAM technology developed by High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) process.

Samsung Electronics has provided G.Skill with DDR5 DRAM memory particles based on high-K metal gate (HKMG) technology, according to analyst Tech Insights.

We have confirmed that Samsung Electronics' HKMG DDR5 DRAM is used in Zhiqi Trident Z5 series products. The agency also expects HKMG to become the new standard for the next generation of DRAM industry.

TechInsights has been disassembling all kinds of IT products on the market and analyzing the chip information embedded in the device. Through this disassembly, TechInsights revealed the mass production of Samsung Electronics HKMG DDR5 DRAM and released photos of its internal circuits.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung Electronics announced the successful development of DDR5 DRAM for the first time in March last year, realizing the large-scale application of HKMG process in the industry for the first time. According to reports, DDR5 data processing speed is twice as fast as DDR4, can start to 4800MHz, and the capacity will also be increased, but the delay is relatively increased.

HKMG technology is traditionally used in logic semiconductor devices. Compared with traditional material technology, HKMG can significantly improve current leakage. Samsung has said that this technology can reduce memory power consumption by about 13%, which is of great significance for applications such as energy-efficient data centers, but Samsung did not disclose the actual commercialization of memory, saying only, "We plan to commercialize memory in a timely manner according to customer needs in the next generation."
