CTOnews.com news on September 16, the day before yesterday, Japanese IT service company Fujitsu (Fujitsu) introduced its new optical transmission technology on its official website, which can achieve the data transmission rate of 1.2Tbps, which is equivalent to transmitting data of six Blu-ray discs with the capacity of 25GB per second.

Fujitsu said that the new optical transmission technology mainly applies three proprietary technologies developed by Fujitsu, namely, digital coherent optical transmission technology, optical transmission equipment water cooling technology and the use of machine learning to optimize optical network technology. Among them, the digital coherent optical transmission technology is a kind of optical transmission technology which combines the optical wave characteristics to improve the reception sensitivity and the advanced ultra-high-speed digital signal processing to maximize the transmission performance, which is also the key of this scheme.

At the same time, using the water-cooled heat dissipation technology of optical transmission equipment, the heat dissipation efficiency can be greatly improved and the power consumption can be reduced to the power consumption of only 120mW per 1Gbp data transmission. Fujitsu said the new optical transmission technology could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70%.

CTOnews.com learned that Fujitsu plans to commercialize the optical transmission equipment in the first half of fiscal year 2023 and start providing it to customers worldwide.
