It is reported that this is China's first independently designed TSN chip, marking the official entry of domestic chips into the commercial field of TSN, opening the prelude to large-scale commercial applications of domestic TSN, and breaking the pattern that this field has long been monopolized by European and American enterprises.

Time sensitive Network (TSN) is an international standard technology to realize the unification of industrial network communication protocols and standards, such as global industrial control, automobile control, aircraft control and so on. It is the supporting network technology of industrial Internet in China. With the development of new generation information and communication technologies such as 5G Internet of things and industrial Internet, TSN has the characteristics of certainty and microsecond interaction, which leads to the realization of science fiction technologies such as self-driving, edge computing, virtual reality and so on. At the same time, with the help of TSN, it breaks the boundary between wisdom and machine, and promotes the digital transformation and intelligent manufacturing upgrade of the traditional discrete industry.

CTOnews.com learned that KD6530 chip is the first domestic TSN chip released by Beijing Dongtu Technology Company, which has TSN features such as time synchronization, traffic scheduling, frame preemption, traffic policy and filtering, frame redundancy and so on. This test comprehensively evaluates the function and performance of the chip and the protocol consistency of IEEE 802.1AS, 802.1QBV, 802.1QBU, 802.1QCI, 802.1CB and so on. After evaluation, the KD6530 chip formally joined the time sensitive Network (TSN) industry chain list and obtained the chip module certificate.

According to the latest report of the global market research company, the global TSN market will reach US $1 billion in 2026 and US $2.8 billion in 2030. However, due to the late start of domestic related industries, the core components represented by TSN chips in this field have long been monopolized by European and American companies such as Broadcom, Mei Man Electronics, NXP and so on. In order to break this monopoly, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the "time sensitive Network (TSN) Industry chain list Plan" in 2021, which aims to promote the industrial growth and application of TSN, and accelerate the maturity of domestic TSN industry chain. At present, a number of white papers on the development of TSN technology and industry have been issued, and the development of standards for many kinds of TSN equipment has been organized.

In May, 2021, the evaluation of commercial products planned in the TSN industrial chain directory was officially launched. Up to now, nearly 20 products have been tested and added to the list, covering chip modules, switches, gateways, end devices, controllers and other types.
