Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, September 15, with the increasing attention of the whole society to environmental protection, many enterprises have begun to implement environmental protection policies. On August 26, Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook) said in an interview with Popular Mechanics that Apple's long-term goal is to no longer consume any resources on the planet to make products. Today, Samsung announced a new environmental protection plan.
Samsung said it would join RE100's global initiative to fully use renewable power in overseas factories within five years. Among them, the electricity matching target for South-West Asia and Vietnam is 2022, for Central America and Latin America is 2025, and for Southeast Asia, CIS and Africa is 2027. Samsung Electronics plans to expand the Renewable Power purchase Agreement (PPA) in regions such as the United States, China and Europe that already use renewable energy.
At the same time, Samsung is committed to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050. To achieve this goal, Samsung will invest heavily in innovative technologies for processing facilities to reduce carbon emissions and install processing facilities on its semiconductor production line by 2030. In addition, Samsung will continue to expand waste heat utilization facilities and consider introducing electric heat sources to reduce the use of liquefied natural gas boilers.
CTOnews.com learned that the RE100 initiative is an environmental protection initiative jointly launched by the international non-profit organization Climate Organization (The Climate Group) and the international non-profit organization carbon Disclosure Project (Carbon Disclosure Project). At present, Apple, Google, Microsoft, TSMC, Sony and other enterprises have joined the initiative. With the addition of Samsung, South Korea's four largest chaebol groups (the other three are LG, Hyundai and SK) have all joined the initiative.
