CTOnews.com, September 15 (Xinhua)-- as part of a pilot project, Tesla opened the first batch of super charging stations for non-Tesla electric vehicles in Iceland. At present, Tesla's supercharging network in Iceland covers the entire island.

Of course, Tesla has not yet extended the project to regions such as North America, where Tesla needs a new adapter so that non-Tesla electric cars can be charged on the super charger network.

CTOnews.com reported that in November 2021, Tesla ran a pilot program at 10 supercharging stations in the Netherlands to allow non-Tesla electric vehicle owners to use Tesla charging piles to charge.

In January this year, Tesla announced that it would expand to more areas in Norway and France. A month later, the project was extended to all supercharging stations in the Netherlands. A few weeks later, Tesla expanded the pilot project again, this time to include supercharging stations in the UK, Spain, Sweden, Belgium and Austria.

In May, the carmaker added Spain and the UK to the scheme. Subsequently, Tesla again extended the project to Denmark, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland. A month later, Tesla opened a pilot project to most European countries.

When announcing the new pilot project, Tesla said it would slowly expand the project to test it more widely, including non-Tesla electric car owners who are new to the network. It also includes existing Tesla owners who experience more traffic at Tesla charging station.

Today, Tesla announced that he would expand the super-charging pilot project for non-Tesla electric vehicles to most supercharging stations in Iceland.
