CTOnews.com, Sept. 14 (Xinhua)-- as the labor market continues to be tight, people familiar with the matter have revealed that e-commerce giant Amazon plans to raise salaries for some of its delivery partners as it prepares for the holiday season, the Wall Street Journal reported.

CTOnews.com has learned that people familiar with the matter say Amazon will fund a pay rise for North American drivers planned by Delivery Service Partners as soon as this week.

At a meeting with leaders of some of its delivery partners in Las Vegas on Tuesday, local time, Amazon said it would invest more than $300 million in pay increases. Amazon also announced tuition support benefits and 401 (k) investment plans for drivers, according to people familiar with the matter.

Amazon reported net sales of $121.234 billion (838.939 billion yuan) in the second quarter, up 7 percent from a year earlier, with a net loss of $2.028 billion (14.034 billion yuan) and a net profit of $7.778 billion (538.24 billion yuan) in the same period last year.
