CTOnews.com, September 14, according to the news on the website of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently, the 46.5nm extreme Ultraviolet Solar Imager (SUTRI) carried on the Chinese Academy of Sciences Space New Technology Test Satellite (SATech-01) started smoothly, successfully obtained the first batch of dynamic imaging observation data in the solar transition region (the level between the solar chromosphere and the corona), and captured some recent solar activity phenomena. This is the first time that China has carried out solar transition zone exploration. At present, all the functions of the load are normal, and the on-orbit testing and calibration are being carried out as planned.

CTOnews.com learned that SATech-01 's Lijian-1 carrier rocket (ZK-1A) successfully made its maiden flight at China's Jiuquan Satellite launch Center at 12:12 on July 27, 2022 Beijing time, launching into a solar synchronous orbit around 500km.

According to the Science and Technology Daily, after a month of in-orbit testing, SATech-01, the first star of the innovative X series developed by the Institute of Micro Satellite Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, worked normally, carried out a number of scientific payloads as planned, and obtained the first batch of scientific results.

The Ne VII 46.5 nm line selected by SUTRI is formed in a region of about 500,000 degrees in the solar atmosphere (located in the high transition region), which is the key region connecting the lower atmosphere and the corona, which was rarely known in the past. SUTRI is the first international 46.5nm solar imager based on multilayer narrow-band filter technology. This observation is also the first complete image of the sun in the 46.5nm band in nearly half a century after the seamless spectrometer on the American Sky Laboratory (Skylab) captured a full-day Ne VII 46.5nm image (with the defect of spectral aliasing) in 1973.

The National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences said that the successful carrying test laid a solid foundation for solar extreme ultraviolet spectrum detection, stellar extreme ultraviolet photometry and spectral detection being promoted by the project team, and strengthened the technical reserve for China's future deep space solar exploration. At the same time, it also provides important support for the construction of solar activity and space weather key laboratory in the aspects of space weather source monitoring and space weather prediction based on independent data.
