Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

On the morning of September 14, Beijing time, it was reported that inflation remained high in the United States and around the world, and many workers in the technology industry complained that their wages could no longer keep pace with inflation. American technology companies are facing new pressure from employees to allow them to work from home and reduce the cost of living.

Hired is a recruitment platform for the service technology industry in the United States. According to a recent report released by the agency, 82 per cent of US technology workers live near where the company works, and 64.5 per cent of those who work from home say their salaries are not enough. even if the data show that the average wage in the US technology industry is higher than last year (the average wage in the US technology industry has risen 3.2 per cent this year to $159000 a year).

This round of serious inflation in the United States can be called "once in a generation". In response, technology practitioners have more reason to require employers to work from home or a mixed work model (home + office).

It is reported that from January 2019 to June 2022, the agency surveyed a total of 2000 technology workers in the United States, and almost every technology worker surveyed by Hired said that if wages do not get the expected increase in the next six months, they will immediately change jobs to look for new jobs.

Bourenane, chief executive of Hired, said that at present, US technology job seekers have high requirements for salary levels, salary increases and flexible working hours, so technology companies have a responsibility to implement the best recruitment policies to attract, recruit and retain top talent.

It is reported that the annual salary of home jobs in the US has risen by an average of $3000 compared with last year, and even exceeds local (non-home) salaries in some cities, such as Chicago, where home jobs exceed local wages by 6.2 per cent. However, London is a bit different, with local office workers earning 3.6 per cent more than home workers.

Today, American technology workers are fleeing areas where the cost of living is too high, causing wages to rise in some cities outside the technology center. For example, wages rose by a record 11.9% in Philadelphia and 11.3% in Dallas.

For America's two technology hubs, average wages fell last year and are now starting to recover. Among them, the average annual salary in the San Francisco Bay area of California rose 3.7 per cent this year to $174000, the highest in the United States, while wages in New York City, another technology hub, rose 4.8 per cent.
