According to foreign media reports, the 80 Gbps lightning transmission may have used a similar specification for USB 4 version 2.0, which was announced earlier this month. Currently, Intel does not share many details. The demo Demo introduces dual lightning channels, each running at a speed of 40 Gbps (a total of 80 Gbps), which is twice the performance of Lightning 4.

At present, Intel has not yet announced the naming and launch time of the new lightning agreement. Foreign media speculated that the 80Gbps lightning protocol may be called Lightning 4 2.0.

CTOnews.com learned that earlier this month, USB Promoter Group announced the USB4 Version 2.0 standard, which enables data transmission of up to 80 Gbps (10GB/s) over USB Type-C cables. According to reports, USB4 Version 2.0 is based on the new physical layer architecture and is backward compatible with USB4 Version 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3 standards.
