CTOnews.com Sept. 13, China Information Communications Institute today released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in July 2022. The report shows that in July 2022, 19.908 million mobile phones were shipped in the domestic market, down 30.6 percent from the same period last year, of which 14.672 million were 5G phones, down 35.7 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 73.7 percent of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

CTOnews.com learned that total mobile phone shipments in the domestic market totaled 156 million units from January to July 2022, down 23.0% from the same period last year, of which 124 million 5G phones were shipped, down 17.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 79.3% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In July 2022, 22 new models of mobile phones were launched in China, down 15.4% from the same period last year, of which 9 models of 5G phones were down 18.2% from the same period last year, accounting for 40.9% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to July 2022, there were a total of 223 new models on the market, down 6.7% from the same period last year, of which 121 5G phones were the same as the same period last year, accounting for 54.3% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

In July 2022, 18.281 million domestic brand mobile phones were shipped, down 29.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 91.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 18 new models were on the market, down 25.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 81.8% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period. From January to July 2022, domestic brand mobile phone shipments totaled 133 million, down 26.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 85.5% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 210 new models were on the market, down 3.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 94.2% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period.

In July 2022, smartphone shipments were 19.117 million, down 31.2% from the same period last year, accounting for 96.0% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to July 2022, smartphone shipments were 153 million units, down 23.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 97.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In July 2022, 18 new models of smartphones were launched, down 14.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 81.8% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. A total of 186 new models of smartphones were launched from January to July 2022, down 5.1% from the same period last year, accounting for 83.4% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
