On September 13, according to foreign media reports, Micron Technology, an American memory chip company, broke ground on Monday at a $15 billion factory in Boise, Idaho. In addition, the company also announced that another new plant in the United States is about to open, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

It is reported that Boysie's factory will be operational in 2025. Both plants will produce DRAM chips, which are widely used in data centers, personal computers and other devices. Sanjay Mehrotra, chief executive, said that once operational, the US plant would account for 40 per cent of Micron's global DRAM production, compared with just 10 per cent today.

Micron said it would be the first new memory chip factory to be built in the US in 20 years and would create 2000 jobs in the future.

In addition, Intel will start construction of a $20 billion plant in Ohio on Friday to produce cutting-edge processor chips.
