CTOnews.com Sept. 13, Apple users may see an alert of "unable to verify AirPods" on iPhone if they try to connect a fake AirPods to an iPhone, starting with iOS 16. Apple announced the news on the support page of its official website today, as previously revealed.

As you can see from the picture, after the user connects the fake AirPods to the iPhone, a pop-up window "cannot verify AirPods" appears, followed by an eye-catching button at the bottom "do not connect" and a small button "connect in Bluetooth settings" below.

Apple said that it is not just the iPhone, but if users receive this reminder when trying to connect the AirPods to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, they need to confirm that the AirPods is authentic. "you can choose not to connect to unauthenticated AirPods or connect them in Bluetooth settings. If you connect to an unauthenticated AirPods, they may not work as expected."
