Today, Raja Koduri, executive vice president of Intel and general manager of accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) Group, dismissed rumors that Intel would abandon its Arc graphics card development.

CTOnews.com learned that earlier today, Koduri used a photo from Intel's Toronto verification lab to promote the upcoming Arc A770 graphics card. Some netizens asked the question about whether the Arc graphics card was abandoned, and got a quite comprehensive answer from Koduri.

Koduri said he didn't know how or why the rumors began to spread. He doesn't think the gossip will help the PC graphics community, and although he admits that the first generation of Arc encountered more obstacles than expected, "we stuck with it."

Koduri does not flatly deny that the development of stand-alone Arc graphics cards is stopping, but it is likely that it does not want to respond to these rumors by directly rejecting them.

All indications are that Intel will soon announce the release of its Arc A770, A750 and A580 desktop graphics cards, and the price and performance will have a lot to do with the degree to which Arc GPU is likely to be accepted.
