CTOnews.com Sept. 12 news, today, Tianfeng International analyst Guo Mingyi released a report saying that compared with the iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Pro and two standard models had good, neutral and poor pre-order results, respectively.

The report points out that although the iPhone 14 series portfolio has improved and the pre-order performance of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is better than that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the current pre-order results are neutral to Apple. It is not clear whether Apple will raise its shipping forecasts for Pro models, but the possibility of cutting orders for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, which accounts for about 45 per cent of total iPhone 14 shipments, is increasing.

Guo Mingyi mentioned in the report:

Delivery times of more than 4 weeks may reflect good demand, while delivery times of both iPhone 14 Pro Max and 14 Pro are more than 4 weeks (Pro Max / Pro is about 6 go 5 weeks).

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will be available on the launch day, reflecting sluggish demand. For now, the pre-order results of iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are worse than those of iPhone SE 3 and iPhone 13 mini (both SE 3 and 13 mini suffered a cut in the first half of 2022).

IPhone 14 Plus is a substitute for iPhone 13 mini. However, the pre-order results for the new product were significantly lower than expected, which means that Apple's product differentiation strategy for standard models failed this year.

The delivery time of the iPhone 14 Pro Max / 14 Pro is slightly longer / similar (compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max / 13 Pro), and the delivery time of the iPhone 14 Pro Max 14 Plus model is shorter (compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max 13 mini).

CTOnews.com learned that Guo Mingyi said that the pre-order result of the Pro model does not mean that Apple will immediately increase the order for the Pro model. Whether Apple will increase its Pro orders depends on how long strong demand for Pro models lasts during the recession. If demand for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus does not improve after the launch, Apple may lower its November and later shipping forecasts for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus within weeks.

According to reports, according to the current pre-order results, strong demand for iPhone 14 Pro models is likely to continue until at least November. But assuming that Apple does not increase its iPhone Pro orders since then, in this case, the potential cut orders for iPhone 14 and 14 Plus may offset the revenue growth brought to Apple by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023 due to a better iPhone product portfolio (iPhone ASP improvement).
