When the iPhone is placed in the user's pocket or face down on the table, the AOD display on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is turned off to help save battery life when the device is not in use.

According to the German YouTuber Felixba, which attended the Apple "Far out" event at the Steve Jobs Theater last week and experienced the new product, if the user matches the Apple Watch with the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, once the user detects that the user leaves the room without a phone, iPhone will disable the AOD constant highlight.

It is speculated that iPhone 14 Pro will use proximity data from Apple Watch to enable this feature and detect it when the user leaves the room. Apple did not mention this unique feature on its website or during the event, but it may be one of several power-saving features of the iPhone 14 Pro AOD display.

CTOnews.com learned that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are equipped with more energy-efficient OLED panels, variable refresh rates as low as 1Hz, and battery savings through the AOD display. In addition, the A16 bionic chip has a new display engine that helps manage other functions such as AOD constant highlight and ProMotion, while optimizing power efficiency.
