CTOnews.com, September 12 (Xinhua)-- the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is Samsung's first phone running Android 12L. New versions of the operating system have also been released for Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. It brings all the features Google has designed for large-screen devices, including the taskbar.

Users can use the taskbar to launch their favorite applications from anywhere. It simplifies application switching and improves split-screen multitasking. However, Samsung's taskbar implementation in One UI 4.1.1 is slightly different from the existing Android 12L. According to 9To5Google, when a user uses a third-party initiator, the taskbar on Samsung's device is disabled.

To see why Samsung disabled this option, the user must force the operating system to allow the use of the taskbar, even if a third-party initiator is used. To bypass this restriction, the user must navigate to the Settings »display »navigation bar on the device, and then scroll down to find the other section. Even if you use a third-party initiator, clicking it displays the option to open the taskbar.

However, when users use the taskbar with a third-party initiator, such as Niagara, they quickly notice that the taskbar is still visible even in the multitasking menu. Users can see the application icon at the bottom of the taskbar and multitask menu. The whole UI looks out of place. That's not the only problem. The initiator sometimes crashes and sometimes no applications are displayed. The user must open and close the taskbar to resolve this issue.

On some Android 12L (at least on Pixel devices), the taskbar appears even if a third-party initiator is used. However, similar to Samsung's One UI 4.1.1, these Android 12Ls continue to display the taskbar in the multitasking menu. Sometimes, it does not synchronize the icon on the taskbar with the icon on the initiator Dock bar.

Therefore, this seems to be a problem with Android 12L itself. Before Google fixes this problem, if users want to use the taskbar on their Galaxy devices, they'd better use the existing Samsung launcher.
