CTOnews.com Sept. 11, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, semiconductor silicon wafer fab global fab consolidated revenue of 6.27 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 1.411 billion yuan) in August, an increase of 9.6% month-on-month and 21.8% year-on-year growth, a record high.

CTOnews.com learned that global crystal had combined revenue of 45.84 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 10.314 billion yuan) in the first eight months of this year, up 14.6 per cent from a year earlier.

The good performance of global crystal also enabled the parent company, Zhongmei Crystal, to receive NT $7.459 billion (about 1.678 billion yuan) in August, an increase of 7.1% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 28.1%. The combined revenue in the first eight months was 53.47 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 12.031 billion yuan), up 20.1% from a year earlier.

In addition, construction of the Global Crystal Texas plant is expected to start in November, and the first phase is expected to start production by 2025 at the earliest. If the maximum production capacity is 1.2 million pieces per month, the total investment will reach US $5 billion (about 34.75 billion yuan).
