CTOnews.com, September 11, the latest Sensor Tower Store Intelligence report shows that the top 1% of publishers in App Store and Google Play ate most of the world's share of their products in the first half of 2022.
Sensor Tower analyzed 900000 publishers of games and non-game applications and found that 9000 (1 per cent) had a total of 72 billion installations (nearly 79 per cent) on App Store and Google Play, while the remaining 99 per cent of publishers App had a total of 15 billion independent installations, accumulating about 21 per cent of the market download share.
Although these head publishers still account for the bulk of downloads and revenues, the mobile market has become more democratic this year, with the top 1% of market share shrinking over the past three years, the lowest level since 2019.

Revenue is even more exaggerated, with the top 1 per cent of global App issuers (about 1800) accounting for 91 per cent of total revenue, or about $42 billion, while the remaining 183000 companies share 9 per cent of the market, or $4 billion.
Among game and non-game publishers, Tencent topped the list with revenue of about $3.3 billion in the first half of this year, 153 per cent higher than the second-placed byte jump ($1.3 billion). More than 7 per cent of the world's game domestic purchase revenue has been eaten up by perennial top products such as "Arena of Valor" and "PUBG" alone.
If you only look at the mobile games, the head publishers will have a bigger lead in terms of market share.
The top 1 per cent of game publishers ate about 93 per cent of their revenue in the first half of this year, with about 460 game publishers generating a total of $27 billion, according to the data. More than 46000 other publishers have a 7 per cent market share, or $2 billion.
Of this total, Tencent's revenue exceeded $2.6 billion in the first half, accounting for about 10 per cent of all head game publishers.
