Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, September 11 (Xinhua)-- Ubisoft founder and CEO Yves Guillemot said on Thursday local time that it would remain open to other partners after Tencent doubled its direct stake to 9.99%, Reuters reported.
Guillemot's comments were made at a closed news conference, and the company asked not to disclose its content until Saturday's online presentation.
CTOnews.com learned that Tencent had acquired a 5 per cent stake in Ubisoft in 2018. Ubisoft is the developer of popular global games such as Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia and Rainbow 6.
On Sept. 6, Tencent announced an investment of 300 million euros (including 200 million euros in share purchases and 100 million euros in capital increase) in Ubisoft's holding company Guillemot Brothers Ltd.
"We remain completely independent and we can work with any outside company if we want," Guillemot said.
Guillemot also said that as part of its plan to restore growth, Ubisoft aims to launch its three pillar game series-Assassin's Creed, isolated Island Soul and Rainbow 6-on all digital platforms. Ubisoft aims to bring the annual revenue of the three brands to 3 billion euros (about 20.88 billion yuan) within five years.
