As one of the most important traditional festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival has since ancient times had folk customs such as offering sacrifices to the moon, enjoying the moon, eating moon cakes, watching lanterns, enjoying sweet-scented osmanthus, drinking sweet-scented osmanthus wine, and so on.

While every household ate moon cakes to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Shenzhou 14 crew also ate moon cakes in space. This is the first time that Chinese people have celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival in space, and it is also the Mid-Autumn Festival when Chinese people are closest to the moon.

According to our space official Weibo, in 2003, Yang Liwei ate the small moon cakes carried with him in the Shenzhou V re-entry module; in 2022, the Shenzhou 14 crew ate the big moon cakes that went up early with the cargo ship in the core module of the space station.

In addition, according to the official Weibo release of @ manned space trumpet, the Shenzhou 14 crew ate lotus-filled moon cakes at the space station this time. These moon cakes are delivered to space by Tianzhou cargo spacecraft.

CTOnews.com learned that the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft was successfully launched on June 5. Since then, three astronauts, Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, have launched a six-month mission.

According to the China manned Space Engineering Office, since successfully entering the space station assembly on June 5, the Shenzhou 14 astronaut crew has lived and worked in orbit for 88 days. It has successively completed the material transfer of the cargo spacecraft, the on-orbit test of the platform of the space module, the unlocking and testing of the scientific experiment cabinet, the unlocking and on-orbit testing of the small manipulator, and the management of the space station assembly. It has carried out daily work such as on-orbit medical examination, weightlessness protection exercise and space science test, and carried out on-orbit emergency evacuation drills, small manipulator operation, medical rescue drills and other on-orbit training projects.
