According to the official account released by Zhongwei Daily, the opening ceremony of the photovoltaic composite project of the Tengger Desert 3GW New Energy Base, the largest desert photovoltaic base in the country, was held in Zhongwei City on September 9.

According to reports, the 3GW photovoltaic composite project in the Tengger Desert is located in Yingshuiqiao Town, Shapotou District, Zhongwei City, and is the key supporting project of the country's first UHV transmission channel to develop a large desert photovoltaic base and transmit new energy-- "Ningdian into Hunan" project. The total installed capacity of the project is 3 million kilowatts with a total investment of 15.25 billion yuan. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation will reach about 5.78 billion kilowatt-hours, achieve operating income of 1.5 billion yuan, and provide 1500 jobs. It can save 1.92 million tons of standard coal every year, reduce annual sulfur dioxide emissions by about 33900 tons, reduce annual nitrogen oxide emissions by about 50, 000 tons, and reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by about 4.66 million tons.

CTOnews.com learned that on September 2, the National Energy Administration held a national video conference on the analysis of the situation of renewable energy development and construction in August. The meeting pointed out that from January to July this year, the national installed capacity of renewable energy was 65.02 million kilowatts, accounting for 77% of the new power generation installed in the country. The utilization rate of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power in major river basins across the country was 98.6%, 96.1% and 97.9% respectively.

The meeting showed that the first batch of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases focusing on desert, Gobi, and desert areas have all started construction, some of the second batch of base projects have started construction, and the third batch of base projects are stepping up efforts to organize and carry out relevant work.
