According to reports, the fourth phase of China's lunar exploration project includes the missions of Chang'e-6, Chang'e-7 and Chang'e-8, which will be implemented one after another in the next 10 years. Among them, Chang'e-6 is a backup of Chang'e-5, which has the function of sampling and returning, and it will go to the far side of the moon to carry out a mission.

With regard to Chang'e-6, Hu Hao pointed out that in the course of more than ten years of research and development, China's electronic devices have developed rapidly, and the substitution effect for imported devices is obvious. Although Chang'e-6 is a backup of Chang'e-5, it has formed a product, but from the current situation, the localization rate has been further improved.

In addition, our Chang'e-7 is currently under development, which will explore the South Pole of the moon and will help us establish the basic model of the International Lunar Research Station.

The purpose of our missions is to lay the foundation for building a scientific research station on the moon, said Liu Jizhong. So there are a lot of technologies to tackle, and at the same time, the energy of the moon needs to be explored, which is a great challenge.

It is worth mentioning that Hu Hao, chief designer of the third phase of the Chinese lunar exploration project, has previously revealed that the fourth phase of the lunar exploration project has been launched to make technical reserves for manned lunar landings.

He said that the fourth phase of China's lunar exploration project was formally approved at the end of last year, with the main goal of building a basic lunar research station at the lunar south pole, and preparing to set up a scientific research station at the lunar south pole, hoping to find water (ice) at the lunar south pole.

Wu Weiren also said that a lunar communication system will be established, and there may be WiFi on the lunar research station in the future, and the international lunar research station may serve as a transit station for deep space exploration in the future. Wu Weiren said China plans to explore the edge of the solar system 15 billion kilometers away by 2049.

CTOnews.com learned that the fourth phase of China's lunar exploration project has planned four missions, the first is the successfully implemented Chang'e IV, and the next three missions are Chang'e 6, Chang'e 7 and Chang'e 8. Among them, "Chang'e-6" mainly went to the high-value areas of the moon for sampling and return, followed by new lunar soil samples to return to Earth; "Chang'e-7" mainly carried out scientific exploration of the lunar polar regions, especially the distribution of water ice on the moon. "Chang'e-8" will work in coordination with "Chang'e-7" to mainly carry out technical experimental verification and long-term scientific exploration for the development and utilization of lunar resources, and carry out large-scale, full-scale, and long-period observations of the moon, and verify the follow-up key technologies of scientific research stations. " Chang'e-6 and Chang'e-7 are expected to be launched before 2025.
