Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
According to the news on the evening of September 9, Beijing time, a Russian court today upheld a fine of 21.7 billion rubles ($357 million) on Google because Russian subsidiaries repeatedly failed to delete content deemed illegal by Russia.
In July, a Russian court fined Google 21.7 billion roubles for failing to delete illegal content and refusing to change it. Today, for the same reason, Russian courts imposed a second "negotiable" fine of 21.7 billion roubles.
It is reported that Russia's state communications regulator, the Federal Bureau of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media Supervision (Roskomnadzor), sent 17 notices to Google asking Google to delete some inaccurate information, but Google did not comply.
Google was fined 7.2 billion roubles by a Moscow court as early as December 2021 for repeatedly failing to delete content deemed illegal by Russia. It is also the first time Russia has fined a company based on revenue in such a case. In the past, Russia has fined Google several times for failing to delete illegal entries, but the fine is relatively small.
