CTOnews.com, Sept. 9, according to a CINNO Research report, Samsung is expected to increase the supply of OLED panels for Apple's iPhone 14 series Pro high-end models. The model uses LTPO TFT and hole-digging screens, and Samsung is likely to take over some of the supply as competitor LG shows that it is difficult to improve the production rate of OLED panels. Samsung showed that it had ordered additional equipment from its partner company in order to absorb the increased volume.

Samsung shows that the iPhone 14 series of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) that will be supplied to Apple this year will be more than originally planned. Samsung shows the supply of OLED panels for a total of four models in the iPhone 14 series. The model that is expected to change dramatically is the most high-end model, the 6.7in iPhone 14 Pro Max, the report said. The model uses technically difficult low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin film transistors (TFT) and hole digging screens, while competitor LG display faces the challenge of improving yield, and some orders will be transferred to Samsung display.

According to the report, LG display will supply 6.1in iPhone 14 and 6.7in iPhone 14 Pro Max screens. IPhone 14 ordinary OLED panel suppliers include Samsung display and BOE in addition to LG display. It was previously reported that Samsung had an exclusive supply of iPhone14 Pro Max screens in the early days, and will now expand the OLED supply of the model.

CTOnews.com learned that data showed that 82 per cent of Apple's iPhone 14 / Pro series displays were supplied by Samsung, LG Display ranked second with 12 per cent of orders, and BOE covered 6 per cent of all iPhone 14 panel orders. When the new phone is released in September, LG will increase the supply of OLED screens.

According to Apple, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are available in 6.1in and 6.7in sizes. Both models feature a new ultra-retinal XDR display that supports ProMotion technology, which enables all-weather display on the iPhone for the first time under the new 1Hz refresh rate and a number of energy-saving technologies. This makes the new lock screen more practical, with time, widgets, and real-time activities always clear at a glance. This advanced display also brings the same HDR peak brightness as the Pro Display XDR display and is by far the highest outdoor peak brightness of the iPhone: up to 2000 nits, twice as much as the iPhone 13 Pro.
