Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Sept. 9 (Xinhua)-- today's smartphones carry 6GB, 8GB and even more memory, and generally store no less than 64GB, even cheap Android smartphones. Gone are the days of using 2GB smartphones that run out of memory, and Google has now officially updated its GMS requirements.
Google announced on its Android developer blog (through Mishaal Rahman) that starting with Android 13, smartphones will need at least the memory of 2GB and the storage space of 16GB to pre-install Google Mobile Services (GMS). This is true even for Android Go devices, which usually have little memory. New devices with less memory than 2GB cannot be preinstalled with GMS, and devices that are currently running Android 12 but do not meet the above requirements cannot be upgraded to Android 13.
CTOnews.com learned that many early Android Go phones were equipped with 1GB memory and 8GB memory, but today's Android Go phones have 2GB or more memory, so this rule will not significantly change the entry-level Android phone market.
In fact, phones with 1GB memory are no longer guaranteed a basic experience, and there are few new opportunities for such a configuration, and it doesn't seem to make much sense for Google to impose this restriction.
