Tesla, a US electric car maker, is hiring a large number of employees for its California-based energy storage battery factory Megafactory, with a goal of producing 40 GWh of energy storage batteries a year.

Last year, Tesla began building a new energy storage battery factory in Lethrop, Calif., to produce Megapack storage batteries for utility energy storage projects.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) revealed that the energy storage battery plant's capacity goal is to produce 40 GWh Megapack of energy storage batteries a year.

So far, Tesla's new factory has been under construction for a year and has begun to recruit a large number of employees.

Michael Snyder (Michael Snyder), Senior Director of Engineering and Construction of Tesla Energy Project, announced the plan on the recruitment platform LinkedIn:

This plant is large and impressive, and we are working to increase the annual capacity of energy storage batteries to 40 GWh. All you can see is the form of energy storage in the future."

Snyder stressed Tesla's goal of building a new energy storage plant to "produce 40 GWh of energy storage batteries a year." You know, Tesla delivered only about 4 GWh of energy storage products last year.

Snyder described in detail the various positions at the factory: "the positions cover areas such as testing, control, quality, equipment and process engineering, with a variety of roles such as technicians, production assistants and technical project managers. Today, the pressure on the power grid around the world is unprecedented, and this is a truly unique job opportunity."

Tesla lists 37 types of job openings at the energy storage battery factory, most of which are related to engineering and quality control, but there are also production assistant positions, which usually means the factory is close to starting production.

Last year, Tesla raised the price of Megapack energy storage batteries because the backlog of energy storage products waiting to be delivered reached 2023.

Musk has always believed that Tesla energy business will become a distributed global utility company, the size of the business may even exceed the company's electric vehicle business. Increasing the production capacity of energy storage products such as Megapack is crucial to achieving this goal.
