CTOnews.com, Sept. 8, today, AMD announced a new iteration of time-domain sampling amplification technology-- FidelityFX Super Resolution (Super Resolution sharpening, or FSR) 2.1.

According to reports, FSR 2.1includes updates to the algorithm, which can improve the image quality in the game while reducing artifacts such as ghosts and splash screens.

CTOnews.com learned that game developers can now download FSR 2.1for free on GPUOpen.com. The latest version of Simulator Farm 22 has added support for FSR 2.1and Killer 3 will include FSR 2.1in the upcoming update. In addition, the AMD FSR 2 plug-in for Unreal engine 4.26 engine 4.27 and Unreal engine 5 has been updated to support FSR 2.1 and some other enhancements.

According to AMD, FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD's cutting-edge time-domain sampling magnification technology designed to improve the game frame rate that can support games while providing excellent image quality. Like FSR 1 and FSR 2, FSR 2.1 is completely open source and can be widely used in hardware, including other brand products.

In addition, AMD announced 11 games that have added or are expected to support FSR 2, bringing the total number of supported games to 45 in just four months after the launch of the technology. These new games include Deep Rock Galaxy, 2:Reprobed to destroy all mankind, Phantom Line: Tokyo and contempt.
