Why is the deep integration of AI and 5G so important to the meta-universe? The key elements of infrastructure are 5G and AI. The forerunner of AI+5G has appeared, and it is not easy to see how it can promote the deep integration and coordinated development of 5G and AI. How are we doing in this respect? At this year's World artificial Intelligence Conference, Snapdragon X70 modems and RF systems from Qualcomm were successfully selected into the Top30 list of WAIC's highest award-SAIL Award. At the conference, the technical demonstration of "5G Separation rendering Technology to enhance the Unbounded XR New experience" jointly presented by Qualcomm, China Mobile and Zhonghe Group was successfully selected as the treasure of WAIC Town Pavilion.

The demonstration was completed using iqiyi's adventure Dream Pro VR all-in-one machine (equipped with Snapdragon XR2 platform), Xiaomi smartphone with China Mobile terminal slicing solution (equipped with Snapdragon Mobile platform), and the 5G home base station jointly developed by China Mobile Research Institute and Shiju (based on Qualcomm FSM100 5G RAN platform).

The demo uses the immersive interactive content provided by Danghong Qitian, in which the resolution of the content seen in the demo is monocular 2Kx2K@90fps, the delay of the "Action-render-reality" (M2R2P) process is less than 70 milliseconds, and the 5G round-trip delay (RTT) is lower than that of 20ms. In addition, the demonstration has a stable average downlink throughput of 70-90Mbps, and the uplink supports 500Hz posture refresh rate.

With the achievement of this series of parameters, the demonstration users can feel an immersive world that is as clear as reality, lifelike and interactive in real time, and they do not have to be bound by wires, and the experiencers can move freely. It's like being in another real space.

This demonstration verifies end-to-end that under the separated rendering architecture, XR users can take advantage of the high-speed and low-latency transmission provided by 5G to cooperate with the edge cloud side for real-time rendering, while combined with local optimized rendering on the XR terminal side to provide a low-latency immersive and unbounded XR experience.

The success of the demonstration has laid a solid foundation for future XR users to experience lifelike visual effects and unfettered XR experience anytime and anywhere.

Of course, the industry has achieved more than that in promoting faster commercial deployment of borderless XR. On July 6, Zhonghe Group, China Mobile and Qualcomm Technology Co., Ltd. jointly announced that they planned to explore new ways to enhance the experience of sports enthusiasts based on the "5G+XR"-enabled 5G unbounded GTVerse experience program. It also means that soon we will be able to watch sporting events and have an immersive experience through Unbounded XR.

In addition, with the large-scale deployment of 5G unbounded XR, a wider range of application scenarios will also be transformed, including manufacturing, entertainment, gaming, health care, education / training, industry, tourism and retail.
