Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Sept. 8 (Xinhua)-- the launch of Samsung's wearable walking assist robot, GEMS Hip, which Samsung plans to launch in August, will be postponed to the end of the year, ET News reported.
GEMS Hip is Samsung's first public wearable robot on CES 2019. The robot can be worn on the hip joint, can provide the wearer with more than 20% walking strength when walking, and the walking speed can be increased by 10%. It has passed the certification of the international standard ISO 13482, and its security has been guaranteed. Samsung has also developed the GEMS robot, which can be worn on knees and ankles.
The Samsung GEMS Hip was originally designed for medical use, but the company has since expanded its use to ordinary sports products. Wearing the robot device and walking around can produce the effect of PT rehabilitation training. Samsung Electronics is expected to launch two GEMS Hip products, one for sports and one for medical use.
The production of the robot will be carried out by Samsung Electronics' main partners, and key components are also expected to be purchased from domestic companies, and some partners have begun mass production of robot components.
Starting next year, Samsung Electronics will cultivate a new robotics business as a future growth business. To that end, early last year, Samsung set up a Robotics Task Force (TF) under the direct control of the head of the consumer electronics (CE) division. At the end of this year, the robot commercial TF was upgraded to a robot business team. Jong-hee Han, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, announced at the regular shareholder meeting in March that he would develop robots as a new business.
CTOnews.com learned that with the introduction of medical and sports robots, Samsung is expected to quickly expand its product lineup to service robots, such as service robots, which will rapidly expand the market. The service robot market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of nearly 30 per cent over the next four years, according to market research firm Counterpoint Research.
