CTOnews.com September 8 News, V Club officially announced a major UI change for the Steam Store, in today's Steam Update, a major adjustment to the various tabs, types, categories and theme browsing pages in the Steam Store.

CTOnews.com understands that these new store hubs have been previously released via Steam Lab, tested over the past few months, and iterated based on player feedback.

All categories, themes, genres and tabs have new hubs, and these new pages make it easier to explore every corner of Steam. Whether players want a broad category like "multiplayer," a theme like "space," or a specific label like "action Rogue," these new centers allow players to explore in depth.

For many categories, officials manually organize them to show the relevant subcategories. For example, the RPG Store Center is organized into Action RPG, Adventure RPG, Japanese RPG, etc., allowing players to explore the specific types of games they want.

Each hub is tailor-made. Content in each hub is tailored based on a player's gameplay history, network of friends, developers they follow, and works on their wish list.

At the top of each hub there are plenty of detailed recommendations. The carousel at the top of the page displays games recommended for players, complete with metadata explaining why the game might be right for you.

The categories under each center are carefully selected Steam Store Center tabs that quickly take players deeper into related themes and sub-genres. Each tab is handcrafted to show the subcategories most relevant to that hub.

For example, players can specifically find open-world role-playing and controller-enabled casual games. There are also centers that are broken down by subtype, such as the "instant" tab in this "strategy" center and the "arcade" column in this "sports and racing" center.

Latest recommendations for you: new products recommended for you and new games from developers you follow

Each hub will recommend games to players based on the games they have recently played on Steam and the developers they follow. Of course, if the player is looking at a game category that they have never played before, Steam may not be able to generate many useful recommendations for the player and will hide those sections.

Filter, sort, and find the right piece for you

These hubs contain powerful list views that allow players to narrow down to exactly the type of game they want. Officially known as "faceted browsing," this feature was originally introduced through Steam Labs.

Find recently updated games and upcoming events

Every section of the Steam Store now displays current activity for related works. Players can learn about seasonal sales, big updates, or other interesting news directly from developers.

Finally, these new centers have a section dedicated to upcoming products. Players can pre-order a work or add it to their wish list, and receive notification immediately upon its release.

Finding the center is easy Click on a tab on any game's store page to find the center for that tab. Players can also easily find the most popular centers or recommended centers for players directly from the Steam Store homepage.

Recommended centers for you

A colorful carousel has also been added to the Steam homepage, giving players direct access to their favorite game categories. This section will recommend game categories based on games you have recently played, allowing you to explore more similar titles. Players can also scroll to find other categories of games that they may not have played recently.
