South Korea believes that the inflation reduction Act only provides subsidies for electric vehicles produced in the United States, violates the relevant provisions of the Korea-US free trade agreement, and will be an important test for South Korea and the United States and their trade relations.

It is reported that Andergen successively met with members of the US Senate and House of Representatives and White House officials on the same day, and asked to solve the problem of the adverse impact of the US implementation of the "inflation reduction Act" on South Korean-made electric vehicles. Subsequently, he will meet with US Trade Representative Dai Qi on the 7th to convey South Korea's position and jointly explore solutions. On the 8th and 9th, he will attend the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) ministerial meeting in Los Angeles. At that time, he will meet with US Secretary of Commerce Genna Raimundo.

Andergen said that South Korea will ask the United States to amend the law if necessary.
