Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
According to news in the morning of Sept. 7, Beijing time, Musk was reportedly caught up in a lawsuit from Twitter after giving up $44 billion to buy Twitter. Lawyer Musk told the presiding judge on Tuesday that a whistleblower had recently exposed many security issues on the Twitter platform and that Musk needed to investigate the whistleblower's allegations against Twitter, so the trial of the lawsuit should be postponed by a few weeks.
On the same day, the court held a hearing in Wilmington, Delaware. Spiro, Musk's lawyer, said at the hearing: "doesn't it take a few weeks for the judge to understand the whistler's charges?"
Last month, Twitter revealed a whistleblower who exposed various information security disorders and management inaction within Twitter to several US government agencies. The whistleblower's revelations provided Musk with new "ammunition" in the above-mentioned lawsuit. His legal team will have more power to pursue the ultimate goal of the lawsuit, which is to abandon the acquisition without paying Twitter a $1 billion breakup fee.
Opposing the addition of whistleblower content, the whistleblower, named Peiter Zatko, is a former head of network security for Twitter, and he is also a famous hacker, code-named "Mudge". Zack reported a lot of content, one of which was Twitter lying to the outside world, saying that the company had a detailed data security plan.
Previously, Twitter refuted Zach's report, saying it was just "false statements". In court on Tuesday, Twitter's lawyer accused Musk of using whistleblower Zack's revelations to cover up the important fact that he signed a $44 billion acquisition agreement with Twitter without fully assessing the risks of the deal.
William Savitt, a Twitter lawyer, said Mr Musk did not do regular due diligence before signing the acquisition agreement and now blames Twitter in turn. Savit advised the presiding judge that Musk should not be allowed to add whistler content to the proceedings, but he also stressed that even if the judge allowed to add whistler information, the trial of the case (for a period of five days) should proceed as planned, on October 17th.
On the day the new evidence was read out, Savit also read out in court a letter that Mr Musk sent to a banker in early May. "if we go to World War III, there is no point in buying Twitter," Musk wrote. "
Savit said the letter was evidence that Musk wanted to withdraw from the deal to buy Twitter a long time ago, and that his claims about Twitter's fake accounts and robot accounts were just excuses.
Twitter and Musk have taken each other to court in the takeover dispute. In the complaint filed by Twitter, the company asked Justice Kathaleen McCormick, the presiding judge of the Delaware Court of Justice, to order Musk to implement the terms promised in the April acquisition agreement to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share.
Twitter shares rose slightly on Tuesday to close at $38.65, well below Mr Musk's offer.
Judge McCormick did not specify when the trial would begin after Tuesday's court hearing.
