CTOnews.com Sept. 6, according to the release of Godson, recently, the official community of QEMU released version 7.1.0, from this version QEMU will support Dragon Architecture (LoongArch).

QEMU (Quick Emulator) is the mainstream equipment simulation software in the industry. Operating systems and programs that support other architectures can be run on a physical machine with one architecture (such as X86 PC), allowing the software to run imperceptibly under different hardware architectures.

CTOnews.com learned that after QEMU implements support for LoongArch architecture, users can compile, run and debug binary software compatible with LoongArch architecture on physical machines that do not support the LoongArch architecture platform.

For software developers, QEMU can provide a platform for system execution under different hardware architectures, as well as a software cross-architecture integrated test environment to improve software development efficiency and maturity.

QEMU 7.1.0 supports LoongArch architecture user-mode program emulation and system-wide emulation. User-mode program simulation can run user-mode programs that debug LoongArch architecture under the mainstream X86 architecture.

System simulation currently supports the simulation of Godson 3A5000 single board, which can run the community kernel, and users can debug the kernel and drivers and conduct CI testing.

In the follow-up, the Godson team will further improve the support of the QEMU community for LoongArch architecture and contribute to the development of Dragon Architecture open source ecology in the QEMU branch.
