CTOnews.com, Sept. 6 (Reuters)-the Brazilian government on Tuesday ordered Apple to stop selling iPhone phones without chargers in the country, claiming that the products the company provided to consumers were incomplete.

The Brazilian Ministry of Justice fined Apple 1227.5 million reais ($2.38 million) and ordered the cancellation of orders for sales of iPhone 12 and newer models, while suspending the sale of any iPhone models without chargers.

In an order issued in Brazil's official Gazette, the Ministry of Justice said that iPhone lacked the necessary components and that there was "deliberate discrimination against consumers".

CTOnews.com learned that Brazilian authorities rejected Apple's argument that the practice was aimed at reducing carbon emissions, saying there was no evidence that selling smartphones without chargers was environmentally friendly.

The ban came a day before Apple's iPhone 14 series, and unsurprisingly, in most areas, Apple's iPhone 14 series still doesn't come with a charger.

Apple declined to comment on the matter.
