CTOnews.com learned that a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck 12:52 in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province (29.59N, 102.08 E) at a depth of 16km. As of 23:00 on September 5th, 46 people had been killed.

The epicenter was 39 kilometers away from Luding County, 47 kilometers away from Kangding City, 48 kilometers away from Shimian County, 62 kilometers away from Hanyuan County, 78 kilometers away from Yingjing County and 226 kilometers away from Chengdu.

After the Luding 6.8 earthquake in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, the Sichuan Seismological Bureau immediately launched the second-level earthquake emergency response, set up emergency headquarters, held emergency meetings, and made arrangements for emergency disposal work.
