September 5 news, according to foreign media reports, recently, TSMC will build a research and development base in Osaka, Japan this year. The plant will be the company's second base in Japan, responsible for technical development and customer support. However, TSMC immediately clarified that Osaka is a new office.

Founded in 1987, TSMC is the world's largest foundry semiconductor manufacturer, with customers including Apple, Qualcomm and others.

On November 9 last year, the company announced that it would build a joint venture with Sony Semiconductor Solutions in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, called Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which initially plans to invest $7 billion to build a wafer foundry.

It is reported that the factory officially started construction in April this year. After completion, it will adopt 22nm, 28nm, 12nm and 16nm processes to manufacture wafers for relevant customers. It is planned to start shipping in December 2024.
