Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Sept. 4-the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be equipped with larger batteries, which may make up for the increased power consumption of the AOD display, according to Bloomberg Mark Gurman.
Gurman said in its latest Power On newsletter that the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to be equipped with larger batteries, so the devices will "look bigger overall". While longer battery life is always customers' top priority, this year's high-end iPhone may include larger batteries to support AOD displays.
Like the Apple Watch Series 5 and newer models, it is widely expected that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro will be equipped with an AOD display that will always display basic information and visual elements from the redesigned iOS 16 lock screen. According to MacRumors, the AOD display will display information such as time, date and widgets, and include colored and dark versions of some user-defined wallpapers.
Due to the low refresh rate of the new OLED display technology, Apple will be able to provide AOD displays on new iPhone products. Although iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max support up to 120Hz variable refresh rates, the 2021 iPhone can only be as low as 10Hz.
On the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the OLED panel is expected to be as low as 1Hz, saving power when the AOD displays static information. Due to the updated OLED display, the AOD display function is expected to remain unique to the iPhone 14 Pro series models and will not be extended to the iPhone 13 Pro series models.
In addition to the energy saving benefits of lower refresh rates, larger batteries on the iPhone 14 Pro may compensate users for battery life losses that may occur when using the AOD display function. These two changes, accompanied by energy efficiency improvements in the upcoming A16 bionic chip, are expected to support the new "Pro" iPhone.
CTOnews.com has learned that Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 14 series at the "forward-looking" event on September 8. The series will include 6.1in iPhone 14, 6.7in iPhone 14 Plus (or iPhone 14 Max), 6.1in iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7in iPhone 14 Pro Max. The new lineup will mark the end of the road to the 5.4in "mini" form factor, having only released the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini generations.
Apple is also expected to release Apple Watch Series 8, a faster Apple Watch SE 2, and a new rugged Apple Watch Pro. According to Gurman, AirPods Pro 2 is also expected to be released during the event.
