Bloomberg Mark Gurman outlines his ultimate expectations for the event in today's Power On newsletter. It is worth noting that Gurman expects Apple to release AirPods Pro 2 wireless headphones at this event.

"I reported last year that the new AirPods Pro will be released in 2022, and now I am told that they will have a big unveiling ceremony on Wednesday," Gurman said.

CTOnews.com learned that the new AirPods Pro 2 is equipped with an upgraded H2 chip to improve audio quality, extend battery life, improved charging box support for Find My, improved in-ear detection, fitness tracking, and so on.

Back in 2020, Gurman and Debby Wu said Apple had tested a more compact design for the new AirPods Pro, which would remove the stem under the earplugs, similar to Beats Studio Buds headphones. However, recent rumors suggest that there will not be any major design changes in AirPods Pro 2.

It is rumored that the AirPods Pro 2 charging box is still 21.38mm deep, 46mm high and 54mm wide. For comparison, the current AirPods Pro charging box is 45.2mm high and 60.6mm wide.

9to5Mac sources confirmed that the next-generation AirPods Pro, code-named B698, will be equipped with the next-generation H1 chip, Apple's own audio processor. In addition, references to LC3 codec support in the AirPods Max Beta firmware indicate that AirPods Pro 2 will probably support Bluetooth 5.2.

The codec will bring higher stability and efficiency to the wireless headset. Not only that, the new standard will also help AirPods Pro 2 improve the sound quality of voice calls and songs and support higher bit rates. Although low-power Bluetooth and LC3 codecs do not promise "lossless Bluetooth", they will certainly greatly improve sound quality.

In May, Guo predicted that the wireless headphone charging box would still be equipped with a Lightning port to charge. "Apple is testing the iPhone 15 with USB-C port charging," Guo said. "when (or if) iPhone switches to USB-C charging, Apple will also transition AirPods and other accessories to USB-C."
