CTOnews.com, September 4, according to a report by Taiwan media Economic Daily, terminal demand for consumer products has declined due to inflation this year, but demand for TSMC electric cars and data centers is solid. Apple will release iPhone 14 / Pro series new phones, coupled with AMD's expansion of the 5nm product line line, legal persons are optimistic, TSMC capacity utilization remains high, and revenue in the second half of the year is expected to reach new highs quarter by quarter.

TSMC previously revised its outlook for the whole year and raised its annual revenue growth to a median range of more than 30 per cent in US dollars (about 34 to 36 per cent). The industry believes that although the semiconductor industry has entered the inventory adjustment phase, with the countdown to the release of Apple's iPhone 14 / Pro series and the new products of the AMD Ruilong 7000 series, TSMC's exclusive wafer foundry orders will directly benefit.

TSMC said in the previous law that the demand for consumer electronics is weak, some customers are facing inventory adjustment, and only automotive and data center demand is robust, so it raised its forecast for US dollar revenue this year from 24% to 34%, 36%, and reiterated its target of 15% annual compound revenue growth in the next few years.

The legal person is optimistic that Apple will soon release new phones, and it is estimated that the stock of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series will reach 100 million units this year, and other new products will also maintain a certain level, providing an umbrella for TSMC and other related supply chain operations.

CTOnews.com learned that in the mobile phone processor section, the industry revealed that the iPhone 14 will continue to use the A15 processor, while the iPhone 14 Pro will adopt the new A16 processor, which will be produced by the 5nm enhanced version (N5P) and 4nm (N4) processes of the 5nm family, respectively. TSMC has traditionally won the wafer foundry and integrated fan-out (InFO) advanced packaging orders exclusively.

In addition, the AMD 5nm Ruilong 7000 desktop processor will be launched this quarter, and the RDNA 3 architecture GPU and Zen 4 architecture server processors will also be launched within this year. With AMD expanding the 5nm product line line-up, TSMC will exclusively undertake wafer foundry orders and synchronously support capacity utilization to maintain high performance.

According to industry analysis, AMD was the top six customers of TSMC in 2020, accounting for about 7% of revenue. Last year, it climbed to 10% for the first time, making it the second largest customer of TSMC, second only to Apple in revenue contribution. With the increase of AMD shipments and market share, it will become one of the major customers of TSMC's 5nm and 7nm families.
