Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Sept. 3 (Xinhua)-- some Apple Studio Display users complained on online forums that their monitors often emit shrill buzzing sounds that seem to be coming from the top or back of the screen, possibly caused by current interference.
There has been feedback on this issue in the Twitter, Reddit and Apple support communities for some time, and there have been various comments on the MacRumors forum recently, with most people calling it "current buzzing" or "constant noise", "very loud", "high-pitched" and "very annoying".
Several users have found that this phenomenon has nothing to do with fans and only makes this sound when a MacBook Pro or iPad is connected to the monitor. Some people point out that the intensity and spacing of noise vary at different times of the day, suggesting that there may be problems with electrical shielding in Studio Display.
Ryan Roberts, a member of the Apple support community, said:
I encountered a very annoying shrill sound when I was using Studio Display. I talked to other people who discovered the problem on Twitter, and then I got official support from Apple, but to no avail.

"it's not the fan, it's a unique (and very annoying) sound from the back of the display, which is about where the power supply is located.
"I'm 90 per cent sure that the monitor is picking up interference from somewhere and amplifying it, probably through an indoor power circuit, but I'm not sure. I've been told that PSU is poorly protected, but I don't know if it's true.
Some users say Studio Display can receive interference from electric car chargers. For example, one user of MacRumors said that the source of interference they traced was the Lutron Caseta dimmer installed in their home.
As long as you turn on the dimmer, the ASD will hum. The dimmer and my ASD are not on the same circuit breaker. The only explanation I can think of is that the electrical noise generated by the dimmer is somehow transmitted to the circuit board and then to the ASD.
In fact, the problem is not only that the dimmer produces electrical noise. Because only Studio Display in the family would react to this situation. I don't hear anything else making this electronic noise. This seems to be a problem with the ASD power supply. I don't know if there is something wrong with my monitor or all the ASD power designs.
MacRumors's uller6 tells a similar story:
Unfortunately, I have the same problem. I've been on the phone with Apple's technical support / engineering department for several hours, and we've come to exactly the same conclusion as you: the ASD has poor shielding ability to block radio frequency noise, which spreads through the power supply to the fan control circuit, resulting in an audible hum. What I've come across is that running air conditioners on different circuits can also cause ASD to make a lot of buzzing. In the end, I had to return the monitor and didn't even plan to buy another one.
Other users said they had tried to use circuit filters to solve the problem, but found that to no avail, some users replaced their machines from Apple and ended up receiving one or more devices that were also affected.
CTOnews.com cautioned that it is not clear how widespread the problem is, but Apple is aware of the problem, although they have not found a solution.
