Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, Sept. 3-Aurora Innovation CEO Chris Urmson recently outlined several options for the self-driving technology company to deal with challenging market conditions, including a possible sale to Apple or Microsoft, according to Bloomberg News.

Urmson co-founded Aurora after running Google's parent company Alphabet's self-driving car program, the report said, citing an internal memo. He also proposed measures to cut costs, take the company private and spin off or sell assets.

Aurora declined to comment. But the company's shares closed up 15% on Friday.

CTOnews.com learned that Aurora Innovation is one of the leading developers in the field of self-driving technology, and its main competitors are the leaders in the field of self-driving such as Tesla, Cruise and Waymo.

In recent years, it has been reported that Apple is promoting its self-driving car technology and plans to produce a passenger car in 2024 that may carry its own breakthrough battery technology. Of course, there are different opinions about whether Apple builds cars or not, but what is certain is that Apple is indeed developing self-driving technology.

In addition to Apple, Microsoft has just invested in San Francisco-based self-driving carmaker Cruise, which is valued at $30 billion and whose major shareholders include General Motors.

Last month, Aurora also said it would delay delivery of autonomous freight trucks by a year to the first half of 2024 because of tight supply.

Other options outlined in the memo include buying companies in the industry for $150 million to $300m in cash and freezing hiring and layoffs, Bloomberg reported.
